Confirmation ...

David was confirmed into the Catholic faith with Ana as his sponsor. I lost the program sometime between Friday and this Friday; drat! David chose St. Thomas Aquinas.

During the Saturday festivities, the canine below was naughty a few times. Once, eating the corner of David's cake. Toby wonders why he spends so much time in his cage.

Zach showed up for the night.

if you will note, there is a section off the corner for the above (TOBY) reason.

Thank you for having me down there. Good luck and congratulations!
Thank you Beth and Tom for having me at your house that night!

There are more pictures, but I had to limit myself somehow. Each family will get a CD, promise.

potted

While some potted plants that Lois keeps slowly pass away, this one is fresh from Mother's Day.

Lois walked yesterday at Foster Park

Lois got to smell a few flowers also
This one I found had a, uh, guest.

Like an audience or actors of a play, they halted waiting for Lois

sniff, sniff

hmmm, Lilacs
The beginning of the trip.

bit of luck

I got to walk with a friend today. We walked on the "Beginner" trail, which apparently was a last name. The possible bike trail was like... "unholy ---", thankfully we were walking. She was hoping for a simpler walk, but it wound up being quite a nice little hike. She was on a time scale, so was worried about getting back in time. We made it clear, no worries. She had the misfortune of having to work in the afternoon. Yoikes and away!

I stayed a while there took a few more shots than returned to Fort Wayne and took a few more in downtown. Freimann Square has tulips, nearly finished, in bloom. It was quite a sight! I parked a few blocks away, but saw by the parking meter that my walk and photo shoot lasted only 20 some minutes in downtown. I was a little tired on my return.

I finished reading Lion, Witch, Wardrobe (C S Lewis) and started reading The World Must Know: History of the Holocaust As Told In the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Michael Berenbaum. Not shockingly, it is doomed to be a sad work, though worthy of reading.

Oi, eye, I ...

Lois went to the doctor today about her eye. Aw, fudge ... it degenerated since her January appointment. The doctor there did laser surgery. Lois doesn't remember how many times he fired. After several hours and drops in her eyes, her sight is OK and she is no longer in pain.

I think her middle name is "billable" for all the doctors' trips, EMS visits, etc. She is the Medicare $6 million woman. Look out Lindsey Wagner, here comes Lois! She has supersonic hearing thanks to hearing aids, but lacks the gazelle-like swiftness and elephantine strength of the former tennis player.

simple photos from a walk

I decided not to labor any detail, but here are some photos from Marcus' walk.

lilac

Well, a branch fell on the lilac bush. Lois wondered if it was from lightning, but no. It was rotted inside to out. Worse still, when I cut it off, it moved. There was an unhappy colony of ants scrambling to relocate the nest after exposure. Thomas get some spray and Marcus soaked the colony into a slick, sick death. The larvae and eggs were beyond recovery.

Marcus, who doesn't like killing insects, did as directed and killed the carpenters. Well, their recording careers died int he 70s, but "peace out" notwithstanding, the carpenter ants died that day.

soily

Well, the Tom and Lois worked more on their flower beds this week. They tried a new mat that allowed water penetration, but prevented everything covered over by it to no grow. It has only been a few days, so the "jury is still out" on whether it works. Tom chose peat to cover the mat, while Lois had favored composted manured mixed with soil. Anyway, one bag was typical and the other two bags were gooey and sloppy. What a mess!

The wind has been fierce, but thankfully no tornadoes here. Still, Tom and Lois got a chance to go out walking and met up with a neighbor they haven't seen for a long while.

Thomas had a blood test that covered his PSA, but ... he doesn't have his results yet. Don't bother asking much. I'll post anything that I know.
