Father saw friend, Herb

Herb had a knee surgery and is still recovering. His is doing home PT and as painful as it is, he is working through it. Thomas met with him today and discussed being chauffeur for him for poker next week. Thomas hosted it last time -- last week and he didn't wind up being the big winner. The regular boys seemed to have a good time with poker as always and most left with a smile, if for not winning, then the game itself.

coughing and fit

Well, Lois and Thomas are coughing and sickly. Lois is taking medicine for her cold, Thomas is going without -- my comment simply is, "why". Thomas got back with good news from his regular oncologist that agrees with the Michigan doctors; he doesn't need the procedure now. Apart from his sinus-related illness, he is about fine.

Lois' coumadin levels are fairly consistent and so she has the level checked less often -- every three weeks, not two.

They got a chance to play cards and the ladies won again versus the boys. The guys just can't win!

Again Lois opts for an accessory

Lois is wearing a halter today for heart monitoring. She had a coumadin check and it is fine enough that they will not see her for a month. How's that then? There is little other news ... gloomy day, slightly rainy and no major thing happening.

Locally, former President, Bill Clinton is in town trying to rally the Democrats into voting. Oh, boy!

Ok...

So, let me fill you in on a while worth of not posting.

Last Monday, Tom and Lois went to Michigan for his doctor's appointment and to see his cousin (aunt's daughter). Well, Dr. Pajpi, an excellent oncologist, referred Tom to this specialist for a newer treatment for cancer. After reviewing Tom's file and work, he felt that treating Tom's not-very aggressive cancer with this aggressive treatment was inappropriate. He felt Tom was doing OK and was not in need of this therapy at this time.

Father's PSA jumps up and down, sometimes related to other illnesses, but is generally less than 10. This oncologist didn't think Tom was in bad shape. How about that for a kick in the pants?

Tom and Lois also met up with Vivian, his cousin, and talked. They hadn't seen each other in decades. Neither of them remembered Their grandfather talking much -- shame. Vivian married a doctor from Scotland, lived in Canada, North Carolina, and Michigan. By rare luck, it was Vivian's birthday, so there was another little celebration.

Mom's dancing in the shower yields a cut on the foot. Today, Lois reported lifting her foot forward then back while in the shower, exercising. In doing so, she cut open her foot on the spigot. She was instantly worried about the cut, remembering about diabetes losing a limb from a cut like that, but ... that isn't a realistic worry for her at this time.

Enter at your own risk

Well, the Orozcos had illness, work had illness, a friend of mine had illness, the family is ill. I will advise anyone to either jump in and develop a resistance to this nastiness or escape to Aruba and avoid the whole thing.
